IN SERVICE GAMES

月影别墅 - Every review I hear about this is positive LOL it seems like one of those small games with a loyal following. I'd like to try it out one day when I have time风起长安：驭骨人 - Not a gacha game, but I heard positive reviews about it and the story intrigues me神仙记事录 - I occasionally see comments about this, neither good nor bad与君盟 (My Vow to my Liege) - Not a gacha game, but I keep seeing it around so I want to try it out米修斯之印 (Memoirs in Metheus) - Streamed this game at release, which was just a couple months ago, with friends and was unimpressed with the game, especially its writing

HELLO? ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?

遇见逆水寒 - Sporadic updates, but generally I hear good things about this game黑猫奇闻社 - Sporadic updates and I checked it out at their 3rd beta but I dislike the writing

RIP (or ZAMA MIRO)

摇光录：乱世公主 (Alkaid: Lady of Turbulent Era) - EOS incoming March 2025 - I played it at release and had a very negative review, especially for the writing LOL少女的王座 - EOS Incoming January 2025 - From what I remember, it actually stopped updating a long time ago. IMO it was too ambitious and tried to market itself with JP voice actors before CN voice actors. I low-key believe it was this game dying that freed up Liu Beichen's schedule to take on the role of Evan in Light and Night though, so I thank its sacrifice LOL猫之宿约者 (Promise of Destiny) - EOS December 2024 - I checked it out a little because I was interested in the cat men and it was average in writing, nothing bad or good, but that won't cut it in this market花间绘君颜 - EOS October 2023 - This released April 2023... LOL most games cook in development for 2 years, but I heard this game had 3 rushed betas and then released without changing anything and got roasted hard in reviews灵猫传 - EOS October 2023 - This was its second EOS because it got revived... and then died again LOL. It wasn't bad but brought nothing new to the market and I ended up dropping it because the main story was poorly balanced (why was the childhood friend in EVERYONE'S chapters)梦间集天鹅座 - EOS October 2023掌门太忙 - EOS May 2023 - I played at release and the writing was average, but I dropped it because it was comedic and I don't like that style

STILL COOKING (IN THE DUNGEON)

代号C (Code: C) - No updates since October 2022 and, to be honest, nothing about it stands out LOL最后的厂牌 (Last Crew) - No updates since June 2024 and their team was gutted during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they have an interesting premise and their writing was so strong at the beginning that it made me want to translate everything (it was on par with god-tier cards in Light and Night). I think this would land well with a global and JP audience, since people like Paradox Live and Hypnosis Mic, but the language barrier with the songs might be a hurdle

I want to have a minor rant here, so this can be ignored if you don't want to read it, but I'm tired of people questioning my experience or trying to "gotcha" me somehow. Look, I hate to bring up age (as I've discussed in a previous ask), but I've been in the otome game sphere and consciously studying it for almost 15 years and I've been watching the CN market for roughly 6 years, so—on top of being a writer and studying writing—I've seen what works and what doesn't work, and generally everything I've shaken my head at has ended up dying or not catching on the market.

I have NEVER said that Love and Deepspace would not catch on the market, because there is no denying it's bringing something new in terms of action combat, customization, and 3D visuals. HOWEVER, its writing is not it and, in any other game, this level of writing would have killed it promptly (what I find hilarious is that half of the criticisms I see directed to Memoirs in Metheus should also be applied to Love and Deepspace, who is the bigger offender of those criticisms).

There's nothing wrong in liking something with poor writing, whether it's because everything else overshadows the poor writing, someone has no interest in the writing to begin with, or the writing personally lands for someone. There's so much stupid shit I like just because it scratches an itch, but I'm not going to hold them up to be the peak of their market; that's all the awareness I'm asking for from people. It's like how no one tries to brag about their otome game's Live2D when Tears of Themis exists, because we all have eyes and can clearly see that Mihoyo's Live2D is amazing.

Just wanted to hear your thoughts about other otome and maybe learn about one I never heard of yet. Can be anything from <game you wish was more popular>, <game you wish didn't eos>, <game you think would land with westerners/jp console veterans>, etc etc.
