I don't have anything intelligent to say, so you can treat the rest of my words here as me musing out loud beside you after nodding in acknowledgment to your words.

Fujoshis have an interesting history because they've had to claw out their own space among works mostly directed at men (because generally things directed strictly at women, like romance novels, don't have enough male characters to ship together). This has been the case for all LGBT+ things, until recently (relative to human history LOL) where it's not unusual to see a lot of queer works being published now.

Unfortunately, the same goes for yumejoshis about clawing out their own space and that's where otome games enter.

Both demographics have created their own space in a patriarchal society. The problem now comes from how fujoshis are used to grabbing free real estate in any medium regardless of opinions, because they already get enough shit from other people, but otome games are a niche that were created by yumejoshis and so it's defended viciously because they too get enough shit from other people. Ignoring the extremists, I don't see why both sides should have problem in getting along if everyone tagged things properly so that they can avoid things they don't like, and the "guests" in the community need to acknowledge they aren't the target audience. But that's too ideal for the internet LOL.

For spaces outside of otome games, I can only shrug my shoulders because I can't explain the double standards people have either, where Trope A is gross if it's M/F but super hot if it's M/M or F/F. Like, I can understand that some tropes are more often seen and explored with certain dynamics, ex. domestic violence, because something like that between a M/F couple might land too close to home with the audience. But the romanticization or putting things on a pedestal if it's M/M or F/F compared to M/F has certainly been something to see recently.

I just kinda find it funny when people who claim to be proshippers instantly become antis when ever an m/f ship is mentioned and supposedly gets in the way of the m/m (f/f shippers are typically tied to radfem brainwashing rhetoric but that's another story for a different time)

Shipping anything that has incest, sexual abuse, or anything taboo is all fun and dandy but shipping a man with a woman just crosses the line 

I'm not saying people can't ship whatever they want. I do believe people can play in their imaginary sandbox however they wish. It's just mind boggling that the ~icky het~ is what makes them become a stereotypical misogynistic fujo/ absolutely feral 

Especially if they play something like LaDS, mystic messenger, or other Otomege? That's a het genre? That's even more mind boggling if they hate anything straight
