Well, you're talking to someone who passed the JLPT N2 on her first try from self-studying Japanese on the internet through otome games, novels, and drama CDs LOL. This happened precisely because the JLPT doesn't have a speaking or writing unit and I didn't have to develop my speaking or writing skills.

So if your goal is just to enjoy games, then the only thing you need to learn is listening and reading and you can ignore speaking and writing (or simply let them develop slower while you practice listening and reading).

I would start off with basic courses actually (there's a lot of free material out there or apps like HelloChinese), so that you can understand fundamental grammar structure. This will help you parse sentences and know how and where to separate the subject, verb, and object to look them up. The rest is just immersion and repetition of seeing the word, looking it up to understand it, and then associating it with the thing.

In my opinion, music wouldn't really help with learning unless you're going to stare at the lyrics but, even then, songs don't exactly have normal pronunciation. Shows with subtitles would be better. In my opinion though, web novels would be best because it's the easiest format to look up words.

If you really want to practice writing, I would ask if you mean writing on paper or typing on a computer or phone. These are two different things because I can type Chinese and Japanese but I cannot write them LOL memorizing hanzi and kanji strokes is another struggle in and of itself. In either case, I'm afraid I don't have any tips because it's hard to find someone who knows your target and native language and who would be willing to correct your grammar (or even knows enough to correct grammar LOL).

I have one goal, to enjoy games in peace because I've lost faint in the global side and its time to put things in my hands (as much as possible) so I figured that I would start from the language but how can I be imersed in the language aside from music (I haven't figured where to go to listen to music, i get random posts in IG from people but would love to have playlists and music programs like survivals and variety) but writing is the one missing here. Do you have any tip or just writing (trying to mainting a diary could do the trick) can eb helpful. thank u and hava a nice day!
