For the longest time, I couldn't understand your opening sentence and was thinking "This is the furthest thing from an insult? I'm happy and excited for you!" but it finally dawned on me that it could be read as "Your translations are so shit I'm going to learn the language out of spite" HAHAHA.

Seriously though, that's awesome! You might have noticed I have the habit of placing the source text next to my translations, part of it is because I like showing my work LOL but the other part is that I myself am never satisfied with a translation. No matter how good a translation is, there's always something lost or transformed in the process and I'll always encourage people to look at the source text whenever possible. Sometimes even engaging in the most simplest of words through another cultural lens subtly changes your impression of everything.

Observing, trying to understand, or even participating in natural conversations helps language learning a lot too, so that's great you have these multiple different avenues to immerse yourself in the language. I'm repeating myself, but I'm excited for you and I hope you soon find that it's easier and easier to read things!

not a question and i hope you don't take this as an insult LMAO but reading your translations has unironically inspired me to learn chinese so that i'm no longer as reliant on them :D i'm mostly done with the hsk1 and i think i'm making good progress on it since i can pick up bits and pieces from otome games and i feel more comfortable immersing in "real" chinese spaces (not to imply cn otome is fake but like candid interactions like weibo). anywho keep doing what you do, have kind days ahead! <3
