Please don't repeat that person's talking points to me LOL. Laws only matter when they're enforced and only by being on the ground and playing many games and experiencing the market will you have an idea of what is and is not allowed.

But also, how are you defining a "villain"? Even without those so-called "laws" and being given creative freedom, you rarely see games that are extremely gung ho about characters being villains, especially if you're going to romance them. These "villain" characters usually have tragic pasts or some kind of trauma to "justify" their "villainy" and so I no longer consider them villains. No game is going to ask their players to accept a character who burns down orphanages and kicks puppies, actions that will truly make a character "villain-coded" so that you don't support them.

The main goal of Chinese mobile otome games is companionship and so that's why the men ultimately strive towards the light, provide positive messaging, and are good role models. The closest Light and Night "villains" you'll get is an AU that makes them rancid, like Stranger Party Evan or Jesse. Love and Producer does something similar with their AU apocalypse series.

That being said though, For All Time does offer the Empire men and that would probably be the closest to romancing a villain character. I don't play this game so I can't comment on the portrayal of the Empire men compared to their reality or other world counterparts and whether the Empire men are simply antagonists you can romance, with the understanding that this is a doomed romance, or if the long-term goal is to redeem them somehow LOL.

Is there an Event of some sort where the LI are really like villains ? And act as such because I would really be interested in cards like that in case of potential ReRun especially for Evan one haha…..

because I’m not sure anymore if the Chinese laws about the portrayal of Villains in media still apply last time I heard of it was for some specific Site putting it in their rules but do it still apply to games too ?
