It's all just very tiring at this point, especially when anything otome gets too viral in global spaces. Like, I don't know how to make it any clearer to people that when you try to make something for everyone you make something for no one.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I don't think you need to doubt yourself. You understand context in spaces and how someone shouldn't look for clothes at the soup store LOL. I enjoy BL too, but why would I look for BL in an otome space, which won't give me any kind of meaningful interaction between two men, over a BL space that would give time and attention to this kind of relationship. People are way too obsessed with snatching dolls away from creators and transforming those instead of finding dolls of creators that they like from the beginning.

Lastly, I just want to repeat (futilely) that feminism in Asian countries is not the same as feminism in Western countries, where this language and discourse seems to dominate (including online spaces that originate from the West). I won't go too much into this, since this isn't the time or place and this isn't my field of interest LOL, but the Me Too movement in China was like 2-3 years behind the Me Too movement in the West. I also want to stress very importantly though that it would be naive to think Western feminism is the be-all and end-all because other countries prioritize other cultural values and so their feminism (and its development) could look different. In other words, if people barking about wanting to change otome cannot even see the shifts in culture from the originating countries reflected in these otome games, then they don't deserve a seat at the table or the conch to speak their opinion LOL.

otome spaces not being bl-friendly. Yall got such a big space and still want to invade us. fuck off. It makes me conflicted because I enjoy bl myself, but damn, can yall just keep food separate? Can't even lie, I sympathize with lads for the shit they get for banning bl on their official servers, but how do you even bring this up without getting pelted by accusations of homophobia (which is even more ironic considering I'm queer myself). Sometimes I wonder if it makes me a hypocrite or a "self-hater" that I dislike seeing bl in explicitly het-oriented/otome spaces, like how there are lots of women who have internalized misogyny.
