Ouegh, I just have to say: First, a localization wouldn't be under Aurora Studio or Tencent, it would be a third party publisher. Second, if a localization does happen, said publisher's risk assessment is... questionable LOL. Third, Light and Night isn't going to be the holy grail some people make it sound like.

1) Given that the TW and KR servers are all under third party publishers, Game Hours and Haoplay respectively, Aurora Studio—and by extent Tencent—continue to show they have no interest in exporting their games, haha. You have to understand that third party publishers basically "bid" to acquire the license from the original owner to localize the game and the original owner just kind of waves their hand and lets them do whatever they want while taking a cut of the revenue. At most, they just have guidelines about what the publisher needs to preserve (and this can be loose or strict).

So, really, anything can happen LOL. There can be MTL translation like Elex during the first two years of Mr Love Queen's Choice. There can also be English dubs that are so terrible they were suspected to be AI like Moonlit Oath.

2) I don't want to be a wet blanket, but my confidence in any publisher wanting to pick up Light and Night at this point in time is automatically at rock bottom simply because they don't seem to understand the market. If they don't want to mess up the timeline they would need to release in June 2026, but that would put the localization 5 years behind the OG server, which is a horrible distance when it comes to a live service game.

The mobile otome game market looks very different now compared to 5 years ago, most notably when you have Love and Deepspace dominating the global space. Light and Night's base version from 5 years ago will look positively ancient without any important quality of life updates or features that people are used to and already have from its localized competitors: Mr Love Queen's Choice, Tears of Themis, Lovebrush Chronicles, and Love and Deepspace.

Do you know what the KR Light and Night server has set for their pre-event sharing activity? 6000 players, and only just having recently increased to 9000—over a course of 3 days. I haven't seen how much they hit in one day, which would show the number of active and unique players, but this means that the publishers know their population can barely hit this small number over a course of 3 days. CN Light and Night can almost do 100,000 unique players in one day.

KR For All Time has shut down. KR, SEA, and JP Love and Produce have shut down. Global MLQC has removed voices in order to keep running. The only localized CN mobile otome games that are still running smoothly are games published from their parent companies: Tears of Themis, Lovebrush Chronicles, and Love and Deepspace. (To be fair, I think TW localizations still do alright, but if you can read traditional Chinese then you wouldn't be waiting for a localization and could have jumped on the CN server if you really wanted LOL.)

Anyway, any third party publisher looking at Light and Night at this point just has me wincing. I don't want it dead on arrival, but I also don't think they can patiently run a server on the original timeline, but a rushed timeline for revenue will do the story a disservice and turn off players because it will burn them out and squeeze their wallets too hard.

3) I always have to laugh a little at Light and Night's street reputation (?). Like, how do so many people know about it and its "amazing lore"? HAHA. In comparison, Beyond the World is still relatively unknown, but it's on par with Light and Night's revenue. Anyway, it's nice to see so many people are interested, but it's also like... I don't know what people are expecting, because it's not going to magically cure whatever they're dissatisfied with in Love and Deepspace. To me, it's like a crowd of people going "I'm so excited to read the Odyssey! Once the Odyssey comes out, I'm going to drop my YA novel!" and it's a little baffling.

Don't misunderstand, despite their social reputations there's nothing inherently better or worse between the Odyssey and YA novels. It simply depends on what you want. Contrary to popular belief and how people accuse me of being a massive elitist hater, I don't care what people read or enjoy, just be conscious of what you're reading and enjoying.

Uh, this became massive, but all in all I also hope that it's Beyond the World that's being localized LOL. I will sacrifice Beyond the World to block a Light and Night localization. I think Beyond the World is a better investment from every angle.
