Which demographic is saying this? Because the western demographic labels anything "otome" as long as it has things like going on "dates" or outings that deepen an interpersonal relationship. If you're hearing it from general Asian players, then it could be a disparaging remark about how their game is starting to cater to women with this "dating romance" stuff and it's destroying the sanctity of their game (I've been seeing these insults towards Honor of Kings' media campaign that's oriented towards women).
