At this point, I think it's because a LARGE MAJORITY of people find that inconveniencing themselves to think twice about how they engage with other media affects their "enjoyment" of things so much that they can't be bothered with being considerate towards other people. I myself wonder if this is the insidious result of coddle culture and pushing the whole "your feelings matter" too much into the public space.

If you look at the thread of the subtweet, everyone there is like "Your mental health takes priority" which, yes, that is important; however, it's also important not to dismiss things other people take seriously just because you don't take it seriously. Take it into consideration, make a decision, and accept what your actions say about you. I'm definitely developing a massive dislike over how people use the shield of "It's not that serious" to absolve themselves of all responsibility, including what it says about their person.

I saw someone from "that" fandom explain fandom etiquette to people since they had a strawpage question about light and night and how anon was comparing Evan/Zayne and Sariel/Xavier, and it was really polite and respectful. But then I saw that other people were subtweeting about how they were taking it "too seriously" and it was "looking for trouble" when it was just explaining fandom etiquette?
