Yes, but this makes me sound biased. While it may be hard for some people to understand or believe, I like Light and Night because it's well written. It's not well written because I like it. I would seriously argue that it could be submitted for literary awards if we could isolate the men's storylines into 5 individual novels.

As I've been saying, something can be well written technically and have well written overall themes. What I mean by technically is that there are no blunders in character and story consistency, character and story throughlines, the worldbuilding, the sequence of plots, the setup of conflicts, the resolution of conflicts, etc.

Beyond the World (the best comparison for Love and Deepspace in terms of character and story direction) is an example of good technique. I'm not expecting or looking for anything other than a power fantasy of having a cast of men whose whole world(s) revolve around the heroine. The characters are consistent, the cause and result of their relationships are clear, the worlds exist on their own instead of being predicated on the characters needing the world to be there, and the characters are solid because they have needs and wants before they meet the heroine and continue on with their life when they're waiting for the heroine.

Next, what I mean by overall themes is that there is a dissection and examination of human nature. The classics are classics because they comment on the zeitgeist of the time and show the human experience in a way that relates, resonates, and stays with people. This is something Light and Night—to my surprise at the time—lands in addition to having good technique because it's a very humanistic story (I'm referring to humanism, the philosophical stance).

To talk more about this for LN, I would have to get into the plot. So, if I were to give an objective elevator pitch to someone then:

It's a low fantasy story set in the modern world with supernatural races that are dying out and, in their desperation to survive, they begin to exploit the normal human world that has no idea they exist. The heroine, who has a dream of being a fashion designer with her own brand, may possess the key to ensuring the survival of these supernatural races and so she gets drawn into this mess, which escalates to the point where even gods and the creation of the world get involved.

If I were to give a subjective elevator pitch to people who know my tastes then it would be the above paragraph plus:

It's a humanistic story about what it means to be an individual and a rejection of the current patriarchal society and toxic masculinity. The characters struggle to find their own identity in this world, overcoming intergenerational and personal trauma, and learn to cultivate healthy relationships. Love does not better their lives, it's a conscious choice they make because it's worth it to them.

So, to answer your last question, yes, the characters have flaws. If you're talking about the stereotypical view of "flaws" to mean the bad things they do, then just look at this list of Evan's crimes.

However, my view on flaws is that "your curses are your blessings and your blessings are your curses" and our virtues can be what leads to our tragedies. For example, it's Osborn's unbending spine that made him never give into despair and to stand up for the weak like enacting justice on a principal sexually molesting schoolgirls. However, it's also this unbending spine that got Osborn thrown into a juvenile detention center and what made him split his soul and abandon that side of himself.

Another example is how Evan's compassion is both his salvation and damnation. It's his salvation because his kindness touches and helps many people, making you grab and hold onto him. It's his damnation because it's what caused all his horrible suffering in the Blood Clan.

One of the prevalent opinions in the Light and Night community is that people find themselves relating to the men and feel comforted in seeing the heroine accept the men, because it feels like they too can be "saved". The men's experiences with loneliness, depression, confusion, loss, anger, helplessness, and etc. are all human experiences people strongly relate to. Of course, people also relate to the heroine, because she experiences the same journey of being human, and the men's acceptance and love for the heroine comfort them too.

Lastly, what else makes Light and Night have good writing is that you don't even have to engage with it on this "deeper" level. If you just want to enjoy the healthy romantic relationship between the men and you, then you can! This is why, in general, LN dates and ASMRs have one branch being fluff or sex while the other branch delves into more serious explorations of human nature.
