To be honest, I have a hard time imagining why I would want to headcanon an ethnicity anywhere. Even if the characters don't have an ethnicity and we're in some super advanced future civilization or some magical fantasy land, the setting itself would likely have new cultures that the readers would have to learn about. There's also the fact that, even if no ethnicity is explicitly mentioned, the culture of the creator will unconsciously seep through no matter what they're writing and proper media comprehension would be taking into account the author's background and the zeitgest of the time to understand the messages of the work better...

The height of Love and Producer was before COVID and the influx of tourists (no thanks at all to Love and Deepspace LOL), so there wasn't anything this rampant. I remember the biggest eyebrow raising thing was someone sharing their real life face claim headcanons for the men and the whole lineup was white. Everyone just kind of laughed at the absurdity and it didn't make too many waves.

a game that very much so utilizes their cultural identity. Happened in LADS, TOT, LBC, jesus fucking christ. Idk about LovePro but I am reasonably confident that some moron probably did start a whole 'discourse' there. Shit pissing me off.
